[Carry Guide] - Differences between Ancient Carry and Divine Carry Player

Hey guys, xuisoko here,
I found a game where an Ancient III carry played vs Divine III carry on the other team. I watched the game from the perspective of both players.

For the record, I'm currently 6150 mmr, so around 1k over the divine player, while he is 1k over the ancient III.

1. Laning Stage Comparison

For this comparison, I want to say that both of the players lost their lanes. The Ancient carry was more farmed because he was Wraith King vs Morph on the Divine carry, but he ended up losing the game, read below.

Criteria Ancient carry Divine Carry
Uses Aggro efficiently ✔️ ✔️
Adapts Starting Item to his support starting items ✔️
Goes Jungle instead of feed ✔️ ✔️
Adapts Items to Game (For jungle/ or winning lane) ✔️
Blocks Hard Camp when Support doesn't
Prioritizes not dying over fighting ✔️

Breaking Down these Mistakes to specifics

In short, the ancient carry (WK):

  • Lost the lane
  • Go jungle lvl 4, but he had bought wrong items for jungle. (Going jungle was the right choice)
  • Didn't realize beforehand that he has to go jungle. So he itemized poorly (Grabbed a wand and armor, instead of gloves of haste, blight stone.)

Divine Carry:

  • Lost the lane.
  • Recognized that beforehand and rushed Morbid Mask to farm jungle.

2. Mid Game

The Ancient Had a Huge lead of 5k networth around 25th minute mark. But the game felt like the divine carry was the stronger one.

Net worth isn't everything.

Criteria Ancient carry Divine Carry
Farms Safely Most of the time ✔️ ✔️
Avoids the Dead Lane ✔️
Prioritizes not Dying over kills ✔️
Joins Fights When They Should ✔️
Applies Pressure at all times
Utilizes Power Spikes ✔️

Breaking this down into specifics:

Ancient carry (WK):

  • Had his Armlet good timing, didn't join a fight for the next 5 min (Halfway through Desolator)
  • He showed on a lane, when his team was pushing other lane, which resulted in his team dying.
  • Always did the right thing with a delay of 3-4 mins after the right timing.
  • Died 2 times on the dead lane.

Divine Carry (Morph):

  • Played very safely.
  • Avoided the dead lane.
  • Fought once he had EBlade. (Right after, not waiting 5 min like WK.)
  • Fought only on the offlane (Where he should fight. In a place where the enemies won't get an objective even if they win the fight.
  • Knew he was the stronger carry late game, so he didn't feel pressure to do anything aside from shoving waves, picking solo kills with EB, and farming until he gets out of control.

All of these small details added up to the morph ending in 18-1, and the WK 13-7, even with an amazing start for the WK with over 6k networth difference.

WK was 13k networth, while Morph only 7, yet he turned things around with good plays and patience.

I break all of this step by step in the video, so make sure to watch it if you are near the legend, ancient or low divine brackets.

Hope this was useful,
